Baroness Young of Hornsey, OBE
A member of the House of Lords since 2004, Baroness Young is an Independent Cross Bench peer and has been involved in campaigns as various as criminalising and combating modern forms of enslavement, promoting ethical and sustainable fashion, and improving the experiences of children leaving care. She has been a member of the House of Lords EU Select sub-committee on External Affairs and Defence and is currently serving on the House of Lords Select Committee on Sexual Violence in Conflict.
Born in London, her track record in the arts has seen her take positions on the boards of several national cultural organisations including the South Bank Centre, the Royal National Theatre, the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts and The National Archives. A former Head of Culture at the Greater London Authority, she is currently on the Board of Somerset House and a Commissioner at Historic England.
